This family has been assembled from the following facts. Wife Ann died in 1598 & was buried as wife of Giles senior. Giles died in 1603 & was buried as Giles senior. They both died in Sutton Valence & are therefore husband & wife. Giles who married Priscilla Bateman was living in Sutton Valence in 1603 is therefore Giles junior, a son of Giles & Ann. Giles senior died intestate. Letters of administration was granted to Stephen Bishop 09NOV1603 & he is regarded as the eldest son of Giles & Ann. Daughter Ann married Chequers Wood in Sutton Valence named after her mother. Edward Bishop stood surety for his brother Stephen in the admon so also belongs to this family. Edward & Thomas were married on the same day in Sutton Valence & it is assumed that they are brothers. See also the inventory & the accounts for the grant of administration vol. 17 # 31
